Advancing Global Perspectives: Worlds of Words Center Wins 2026 AACTE Best Practice Award

The University of Arizona College of Education’s Worlds of Words (WOW) Center of Global Literacies and Literatures has been named the 2026 recipient of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) Best Practice Award in Support of Global and International Perspectives. This national honor recognizes exemplary work that advances intercultural, global, and internationally grounded approaches in educator preparation.

Led by Regents Professor and WOW Director Kathy G. Short, Ph.D., the center was recognized for its leadership in promoting global literacy and innovative pedagogy for teacher candidates. The award highlights WOW’s role as a cross-cultural learning space that enriches curriculum development and deepens global understanding for educators and learners alike. The award will be formally presented at AACTE 2026 on February 20 in New Orleans.
