The University of Arizona College of Education is proud to celebrate Nolan Cabrera, who has been recognized with the 2026 Outstanding Public Communication of Education Research Award from the American Educational Research Association (AERA).

The award honors scholars who excel at communicating the importance of education research to broad public audiences, including educators, policymakers, and community members. According to AERA, the recognition celebrates researchers who effectively convey significant findings beyond academic spaces and help deepen public understanding of the value of education research.

Cabrera’s work has long focused on connecting research to real-world conversations about education, equity, and policy. Through public scholarship, media engagement, and community dialogue, he continues to make complex educational issues more accessible and relevant to wider audiences.

“Dr. Cabrera continues to be a highly visible scholar who actively shares research in public venues,” colleagues noted in congratulating him on the recognition. “His work reflects the importance of ensuring education research informs daily practice and policy.”

The College of Education congratulates Cabrera on this national honor and celebrates his continued leadership in advancing meaningful conversations about education and its impact on communities.
