The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Sociocultural Studies (TLS) in the College of Education invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Elementary Education Program. The appointment begins August 2026 and is based in Tucson, AZ.

Minimum qualifications: Doctoral degree in Education or a related field; minimum of three years of teaching experience at the elementary and/or middle grades level in schools serving a variety of students with different needs, including cultural and linguistic diversity; experience mentoring and/or coaching preservice teachers or in-service teachers. Preferred qualifications include: content expertise in reading, language arts, and/or literacy and expertise in the teaching and learning of bilingual and multilingual students. 

The Elementary Education program is the largest undergraduate program in the COE and prepares students to meet AZ K-8 certification requirements. Additionally, students take the necessary course work to receive an ESL and/or Bilingual Endorsement and the K-5 Literacy Endorsement. Our program also offers distance options such as our Pathways to Teaching Program and our Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP).
