Educational Policy Studies and Practice Faculty Named Antiracist WAC Fellows
Drs. Moira Ozias and Chi Nguyen Named 2026-2027 Antiracist Writing Across the Curriculum Faculty Fellows
The University of Arizona College of Education is proud to announce that Dr. Moira Ozias and Dr. Chi Nguyen, assistant professors in the Department of Educational Policy Studies and Practice, have been selected as members of the 2026-2027 cohort of Antiracist Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Faculty Fellows.
The year-long professional development program brings together faculty from across the university to strengthen writing instruction through equity-driven and inclusive pedagogical practices. Through collaborative learning and a capstone project, fellows explore approaches that empower students, recognize diverse linguistic backgrounds as assets, and create meaningful, transformative writing experiences across disciplines.
Dr. Ozias, a faculty member in the Center for the Study of Higher Education, focuses her research on equity in higher education practice and the creation of educational spaces and curricula that resist racism and advance racial justice. Her scholarship examines how college experiences can both support and challenge systems of inequity, with the goal of fostering more inclusive learning environments.
Dr. Nguyen is an interdisciplinary educational sociologist whose research examines systemic inequities affecting students, educators, and communities during periods of transition, including policy changes, educational pathways, and migration. Her scholarship spans international, comparative, and interdisciplinary contexts and seeks to better understand and address the barriers facing historically underserved populations.
As Antiracist WAC Faculty Fellows, Drs. Ozias and Nguyen will join a community of educators dedicated to advancing equitable and transformative writing practices in higher education. The program supports faculty in designing writing experiences that promote student agency, foster meaningful engagement with course content, and prepare students to apply their learning in academic, professional, and community settings.
Their selection reflects the College of Education's ongoing commitment to innovative teaching, inclusive excellence, and creating educational experiences that support the success of all learners.
