COE Alumna Lisa Scott Named 2027 Arizona Teacher of the Year
For the second consecutive year, a College of Education alumna has earned Arizona’s top teaching honor
The University of Arizona College of Education is celebrating Lisa Scott, a College of Education alumna, on being named the 2027 Arizona Teacher of the Year by the Arizona Educational Foundation.
Scott, an eighth-grade science teacher at Esmond Station K-8 in the Vail School District, was selected from 155 educators statewide for her excellence in teaching, leadership and commitment to her students and community.
Scott’s achievement adds to a growing legacy of College of Education alumni making an impact in Arizona classrooms. Her selection follows another COE alumna who earned the Arizona Teacher of the Year honor in 2026, marking back-to-back recognition for educators prepared at the College.
As Arizona Teacher of the Year, Scott will serve as an ambassador for educators across the state and represent Arizona in the National Teacher of the Year program. Her selection recognizes not only her work in the classroom, but also her leadership and dedication to advancing education in Arizona.
For the College of Education, Scott’s achievement is another example of the impact COE alumni are making in classrooms and communities across the state. Her success reflects the College’s commitment to preparing educators who inspire students, lead in their schools and make a meaningful difference in the lives of learners.
Congratulations, Lisa! We are proud to call you a College of Education alumna and celebrate this incredible achievement.
