College of Education faculty member Patricia Moreira has been selected as a CUES Fellow, where she will explore how the intentional use of digital tools can shape teaching, learning and student engagement.

Through her fellowship, Patricia will lead a research project titled “Shaping Teaching and Learning Through the Intentional Use of Digital Tools.” The project will examine how instructors use digital formative assessment tools to make instructional decisions and how those decisions influence student engagement and learning.

Over the course of the fellowship, Patricia will recruit and collaborate with participating instructors, collect and analyze data on how digital tools are used in the classroom, and work alongside fellow CUES Fellows through the Faculty Learning Community to share insights and discoveries.

Her work will extend beyond the research itself. Patricia also hopes to help build a community of faculty exploring digital tools in their teaching and create opportunities for professional learning across campus.

Through this fellowship, Patricia is helping advance conversations around thoughtful, purposeful technology use in education while supporting instructors as they explore new ways to engage their students.
