Academic Departments

We are committed to research about and teaching of students with disabilities and special abilities. The department’s research, teaching, and service address current issues in special education, rehabilitation, school psychology, and deaf studies.

Our department includes Educational Leadership & Policy and the Center for the Study of Higher Education. The EPSP department combines the K-12 focus with postsecondary education to create a P-20 perspective that taps into the dominant discourse of education and policymakers today.

Graduate programs in our department prepare students for productive roles in research, teaching, and many other areas in which educational psychology is applied. We offer a master of arts in educational psychology and doctor of philosophy with a major in educational psychology.

We are a diverse community of internationally recognized faculty with a commitment to equity, access, and social justice. Our programs include literacy acquisition, sociocultural theory, Indigenous education, heritage-language revitalization, the study of households and community settings, children’s and adolescent literatures and literacy, science and mathematics education, environmental learning and sustainability, curriculum theory, classroom organization and management, and teacher education and development.
