Film Preview & Discussion: Zuguleaiñ: Hablaremos

On behalf of the Education Policy Center, the Borderlands Education Center and the College of Education Diversity Committee, we are pleased to invite you to attend a film presentation and subsequent discussion with two Mapuche scholars visiting the University of Arizona next week. The Mapuche people are Indigenous to South and Central Chile. Silvia Calfugueo Lefio and Carolina Kürüf are language activists and educators; they will talk to us about the Mapuche struggle to reclaim their land, language, and autonomy. They will be joined by documentary filmmaker Kelly Baur, who will share her thoughts about the role of film and video in social justice movements.

The event will take place on Monday, March 27, from 11:00-a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in room 257 of the College of Education. We will preview Baur’s film Zuguleaiñ: Hablaremos (We will speak) first and then have the opportunity to debrief with all three individuals.

We will provide a light lunch, so please RSVP so we know how many sandwiches to order. Thank you!
