Peer mentoring is at the center of our TLS 197- First Year Success Course. Mentoring is a great way to connect with other students, learn tips and tricks from others who have been in your shoes, build community with other students, and find your place in the College of Education. You can also earn a cord and/or Stole for graduation!

What is a COE Peer Mentor?
As a COE Peer Mentor, you will serve as a friendly face and leader to your peers in the College of Education. During the Fall semester, you will serve as a Peer Mentor in the TLS 197: Freshmen Success Course, in which you'll receive 1-unit Independent Study credit for your efforts.
In order to qualify to be a mentor, you must:
- Be willing to represent the College of Education in the community, around campus, and through student events.
- Feel comfortable representing the ideas of your peers.
- Be supportive of other students in the college.
- Be knowledgeable of events, projects, and updates happening in the college.
- Be willing to inform others and promote student involvement within the College of Education.
- <Must attend all TLS 197 classes and weekly/bi-weekly meetings
- 2.5 or higher GPA
Training and ongoing support will be provided before TLS 197 begins. Training will begin in August.
