Trans Studies in Education Student Session with Monica Jones
The Trans Studies in Education Speaker Series is hosting Monica Jones as our spring speaker. Monica Jones is the founder and CEO of The Outlaw Project, an organization based on the principles of intersectionality to prioritize the leadership of trans women of color. Monica Jones’s activism gained national prominence when she challenged Arizona's discriminatory "manifesting prostitution law" and joined with fellow members of the Sex Workers Outreach Project (SWOP) in protest of Arizona State University's Project ROSE.
Hosted by the College of Education, Monica's student session will engage undergrad and grad students in imagining what it means to build safety for trans women, especially trans women of color. This event is open to the students; lunch will be provided.
Sponsors for this event include: College of Education, Department of Educational Policy Studies and Practice, Center for the Study of Higher Education, LGBTQA Affairs, African American Student Affairs (AASA) and the Women’s and Gender Resource Center.
