Harnessing the power of education to create a more equitable community and world.
At the College of Education, we know how education can transform lives. Our faculty and students are working to address major challenges within the educational system, including systemic racism, LGBTQIA+ discrimination, the international education landscape, and access to higher education for all. From our unique position in the borderlands of Arizona and Mexico, we center the experiences of Indigenous and Latinx students and community members, empowering our people to create culturally-responsive and community-accountable solutions to today’s most pressing educational questions.
Elite, Not Elitist
42% of undergraduate students, 38% of our graduate students, and 23% of our faculty are from communities that are traditionally underrepresented in education.
Committed to Affordability
More than $600,000 awarded in College financial aid awarded last year. 90% of eligible students receive scholarship funding.
Training the Next Generation of Educators
More than 90% of our students pass the state certification exams required for licensure, and more than half of our graduating educators have a job offer before graduation.
A Student-Centered Experience
We know that although you are an Education student, that’s not all you are. Our students come from all walks of life and are also parents, working professionals, community leaders, and scholars in your own right. We aim to care for the social, emotional, academic, and professional success of our students by seeing you for your unique strengths and lived experiences. Student learning, advocacy, and well-being is at the heart of everything we do, and we aim to create environments that foster your growth in our rapidly changing world.
Challenging the Status Quo
This isn’t your typical College of Education. At the University of Arizona, we seek to challenge our assumptions and beliefs in order to create new possibilities. By leveraging community knowledge and addressing injustices (both historical and current), we are shifting power and resources to ensure those who hold historically underrepresented identities receive the necessary opportunities and resources to thrive.
In Collaboration with Our Community
Change doesn’t happen in a vacuum. As part of our mission to increase education equity, we work closely with our colleagues in professional education settings in Pre-K-12 and higher education to ground our work in the real settings in which our knowledge is used. We also partner with colleagues across campus, in government and nonprofit sectors, and with businesses across the country to leverage resources and make the ultimate impact.
