Dr. Xingxing Wu is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Teaching, Learning and Sociocultural Studies Department at the University of Arizona. His former teaching experiences include serving as an instructor in the Department of Recreation, Sport, and Tourism at the University of Illinois, teaching courses related to leisure and consumer culture, research methods and evaluation in recreation, sport, and tourism, and parks, recreation and environment.

Dr Wu received his Ph.D. in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism from the College of Applied Health at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He also earned his Master’s degree in Sports Administration from Valparaiso University. 

Dr Wu’s research primarily focuses on the relationships between leisure, recreation and place, leisure and wellbeing, culture and leisure behaviors among populations that are susceptible to being marginalized and underrepresented. He uses an interdisciplinary approach to examine recreational engagement and health and well-being among diverse communities (e.g., immigrants, the LGBTQ community, and older adults).
