Doctoral Candidate Cynthia Blockburger Awarded UA Hispanic Alumni Scholarship

Cynthia Blockburger, a Ph.D. candidate in Educational Leadership & Policy, was awarded the University of Arizona Hispanic Alumni Scholarship. Cynthia’s dissertation research examines the resilience, determination, and perseverance of first-generation African-American women seeking their Ph.D.s. In her writing, she commented, “First-generation African-American Women should be able to look across academic spaces and see multiple, successful African-American faculty members.” Cynthia is currently analyzing her data and writing the findings chapter of her dissertation.
