The University of Arizona to Help Develop National Sustainability Standards in Higher Ed

The University of Arizona has been selected as one of 21 institutions in the Carnegie Foundation’s Elective Classification for Sustainability pilot program. This initiative will establish national standards for recognizing how colleges and universities integrate sustainability and climate action into their curriculum, operations, and community engagement.

With expertise from the Cooper Center for Environmental Learning and the College of Education, UArizona is helping shape the future of sustainability in higher education. Through programs like the Sustainability and Climate Action Plan, Compost Cats, and the Indigenous Resilience Center, the university continues to make a meaningful impact—on campus and beyond.

By sharing best practices and collaborating with institutions nationwide, U of A is leading the charge in creating a more sustainable future for higher education.
