The Counselor Education & Supervision Ph.D. program is designed to prepare students for positions of leadership in counselor education and research. The Educational Leadership & Policy Ph.D. program is designed to expand the boundaries of the educational leadership and policy field with an explicit focus on inclusivity, social justice, and anti-racism. The program prepares leaders to achieve results in the nation's schools by translating theory and knowledge into practice, applying research to inform decision-making, and following ethical principles.

The Master of Educational Leadership (EDL MEd) program is designed for aspiring educational leaders and individuals seeking to advance their leadership expertise. This 36-unit program can be completed within two years and may lead to principal or education supervisor certification in Arizona. The EDL MEd is offered through two programmatic options, allowing students to balance their studies with personal and professional commitments.

Educational Psychology
The program offers specialized courses in the areas of the psychology of teaching and learning, human cognition and problem solving, human development, and research methodology and measurement.

The Educational Research Methodology Certificate prepares students to conduct educational research. Teachers and administrators often possess rich knowledge of curriculum and instruction, but may not have sufficient methodological and statistical knowledge to perform or interpret educational research. This program addresses the development of these abilities and affords students in the social and behavioral sciences with an opportunity to develop some intermediate-level skills for conducting research/program evaluation.

In the MA Higher Education program, students acquire a foundational understanding of higher education upon which you can build professional practice and, if you later choose, your doctoral work. Students in the program learn to analyze, inform, and enhance practice with current scholarship and thinking about higher education. The program is enhanced by a close relationship with UA Campus Life and Student Initiatives and Academic Affairs.

The Higher Education Ph.D. is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of concepts, theoretical frameworks, issues, and practices in a particular area within higher education. The program integrates core courses in higher education, an area of concentration, and individually tailored courses of study that encourage students to undertake coursework with faculty in a variety of departments. Areas of concentration include comparative higher education, organization and administration, college access, and student affairs.

We envision a world in which children in Southern Arizona have access to high quality education, and we are creating that world through our Humanizing and Culturally Affirming Teacher Program (HCAT). The HCAT program is a two-year, context-specific program that prepares teachers for the borderlands of Arizona, culminating in an M.Ed Secondary Education and Arizona secondary certification for grades 7-12. The program’s philosophy relies on critical analyses of teachers’ sociocultural, political, and economic positionalities.

A certificate in Inclusive Leadership in Sport and Recreation will develop student’s knowledge and skills specifically related to equity, inclusion, and justice in athletic and leisure contexts. Students will engage with faculty who have extensive practical experience in athletics, coaching, recreation, and physical education in flexible and engaging online course options that fit with any schedule.

The Motivating Learning Environments Certificate offers a chance for students to enhance learning by gaining knowledge of how to develop motivating learning environments. Many teachers and administrators have rich understandings of teaching strategy and content but have had little opportunity to explore theoretical or conceptual knowledge of how students learn. In this certificate program, students have the opportunity to study rich concepts and theories that have been developed in the fields of motivation, instruction, and learning.

The School Psychology Ed.S. program provides a comprehensive and integrated curriculum that prepares students to become Nationally Certified School Psychologists (NCSPs). With this educational specialist degree, an individual can practice school psychology in the great majority of school systems in the United States. The program, which leads to Arizona certification, is available in two locations: Tucson (Main Campus) and Chandler (UA Chandler).

The School Psychology Ph.D. program is designed to prepare students for leadership positions in school psychology and related disciplines. More specifically, it is designed to prepare graduates for positions of leadership that involve applying psychological principles to improve student outcomes. Students in the program are provided with a range of training and research opportunities that aim to increase their competence in school psychology and their ability to function as effective professionals who collaborate well with individuals from different disciplines and celebrate diversity.

The Sport and Recreation Leadership MA program will prepare dynamic leaders in sports and recreation fields. Students will focus on issues of equity and justice in sport and recreation, policy analysis and implementation, coaching, administrative functions related to human resources, finance, and marketing, as well as general best practices in the field.

A certificate in Sport and Recreation Management will develop knowledge and skills in organizational leadership, policy analysis and implementation, as well as administrative functions like human resources, finance, and marketing. Students will engage with faculty who have extensive practical experience in athletics, coaching, recreation, and physical education in flexible and engaging online course options that fit with any schedule.

Teach Arizona is a fast-track, one-year MEd plus certification program for prospective high school or middle school teachers who have a bachelor’s degree and want to teach one of the following subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, general science, Spanish, American Sign Language, Mandarin, French, English, history, political science, or economics. Teach Arizona students have the opportunity to complete a year-long student teaching internship during the program before stepping into the profession.

The Teaching and Learning M.A. program supports you in developing and expanding your teaching tools. In this 2-year program, you’ll learn the latest information about teaching and learning while specializing in an area that matches your interests. The program has a fully distance-based option with synchronous classes over zoom.

The doctoral program in Teaching, Learning & Sociocultural Studies (TLS) prepares students to investigate and address a broad range of issues in teaching and learning. Emphasizing a sociocultural perspective, the program nurtures innovative ways of knowing, methods of inquiry, and approaches to problem-solving. Students are encouraged to focus their studies in one of our 9 pre-designed specializations, but may customize a plan of study in agreement with their graduate committee to fit their interests and needs.
