Laura Torres, Youth and Family Services Director at Campesinos Sin Fronteras, is making a profound impact on the lives of agricultural workers and low-income families in Yuma County. With deep roots in advocacy and community service, Laura leads programs that offer access to vital resources, including health care, behavioral health support, social services, housing rehabilitation, education, and workforce development.

Her work is a continuation of a legacy begun by her mother, Emma Torres, who founded Campesinos Sin Fronteras 30 years ago. Emma’s vision was to uplift farmworker communities through grassroots leadership and culturally competent services. That vision continues to thrive today, most recently celebrated in a local health fair spotlighted by KAWC Public Radio.

In addition to her role at the nonprofit, Laura also serves on the Somerton school board, where she advocates for educational equity and student wellness. Her commitment to the region’s youth and families was recently highlighted in a television feature by KYMA News 11, which showcases her dedication to bridging gaps in services and opportunities.

Laura’s work represents the heart of community-led change, and her leadership ensures that the mission of Campesinos Sin Fronteras will continue to grow for future generations.
