Dr. Brandy Perkl leads the development of the University of Arizona's new Master of Education in Data Literacy for Education, Arizona's first comprehensive graduate program focused on helping K-12 educators use data effectively for decision-making. The program features three stackable graduate certificates (Evaluation Literacy, Assessment Literacy, and Research Literacy) that can be completed individually or as part of the full master's degree, designed specifically for working educators.
With a doctorate in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Dr. Perkl brings over a decade of experience developing research training, mentoring programs, and online courses. As Co-Principal Investigator on a nearly decade-long Institute of Education Sciences grant, she developed evidence-based mentoring infrastructure that supported almost 100 graduate fellows, earning her the 2024 Maria Teresa Velez Outstanding Faculty Mentoring Award. She currently serves on the Steering Committee of the University of Arizona's MENTOR Institute.
Dr. Perkl's work is grounded in the belief that educational research should be accessible, actionable, and designed with practitioners in mind. Her scholarship focuses on evidence-based mentoring, cultural intelligence in research training, and supporting diverse learners with the hopes of helping educators engage with data, research, and evaluation without needing to become researchers themselves.
