During this year’s College of Education Scholarship Breakfast, Educational Psychology Ph.D. candidate Nitika Mehta delivered a powerful and emotional speech that resonated deeply with donors, students, faculty, and staff alike.

Reflecting on her personal journey, Nitika shared how scholarship support transformed her life and gave her the opportunity to pursue her dreams. She reminded donors of the profound impact their generosity has on students, saying:

“To every donor ... if you ever find yourself wondering whether your generosity is making a difference…
If you ever question whether your scholarships are reaching the right students or serving the purpose you intended, remember this:
There was once a young Indian girl silenced by her school, dismissed by her community, and told repeatedly that she was not enough.
She didn’t just need financial aid.
She needed a second chance at life.
And because of your support – she got it.”

Nitika’s story is a powerful testament to how scholarships do more than fund education; they restore hope, open doors, and change lives.
