We are proud to feature the recent article, “Faculty excellence takes center stage at the 2025 Luminaries Awards,” from the University of Arizona News, which celebrates outstanding faculty achievements across the university. 

At the 2025 Luminaries Outstanding Faculty Awards, three distinguished members of the University of Arizona College of Education were honored for their exceptional contributions:

  • Dr. Gary Rhoades (Professor, Center for the Study of Higher Education) — honored with the Distinguished Mentor Award for his exemplary guidance of future scholars.
  • Dr. Melanie McKay‑Cody (Assistant Professor, Department of Disability & Psychoeducational Studies) — recognized with the Early Career Scholar Award, showcasing her innovative work in Indigenous Deaf studies.
  • Dr. Desiree Vega (Associate Professor, Department of Disability & Psychoeducational Studies) — honored with the Mentoring Future Scholars Award, reflecting her commitment to culturally responsive education and access.

Their recognition underscores our College’s dedication to inclusive excellence, impactful research, and transformative teaching. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Rhoades, Dr. McKay-Cody, and Dr. Vega for their inspiring leadership and service.
