Education Spotlight
Meet Dr. Jesse Stipek, Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Sociocultural Studies at the University of Arizona College of Education and Director of Graduate Studies for the Sport and Recreation Leadership program. A former elite swimmer who competed at the 2012 United States Olympic Swimming Trials and coached at the University of Arizona, he brings top-level athletic experience into the classroom. His work explores college athletics through a sociopolitical lens, including policy considerations during the #MeToo movement, as he helps students examine sport and recreation as dynamic, impactful spaces.

Charlotte Galvan, a University of Arizona College of Education alumna, was recently honored with the 2025 Tucson Values Teachers Teacher Excellence Award. In this spotlight, she shares how she creates engaging, collaborative classrooms where every student feels supported and empowered. Galvan discusses the importance of building meaningful relationships with students and their families, and how strong communication strengthens learning at home and at school. She highlights her approach to teamwork, creativity, and student confidence, as well as translating personal passions into impactful teaching practices.
