Quick Facts
Main Campus (Tucson)
In Person
The Pathways to Teaching program offers students across the state an opportunity to deepen their relationship with their community by becoming an educator at a local school. This intensive program is completed in only 17 months (4 continuous semesters: spring, summer, fall, spring), and Pathways students receive a $1,000 monthly stipend while they are enrolled. Classes are held on-site at our District Partner schools across Arizona, enabling students to earn their degree in elementary education (K-8) with an ESL endorsement without relocation.
In addition to the monthly stipend, tuition is covered through a combination of forgivable loans and scholarships.

Who is eligible for Pathways?
In order to be eligible for participation, students must have a connection to one of our District Partners. Pathways students have been former paraprofessionals, parent volunteers, and former students in our partner districts, but there are many ways for you to demonstrate your connection to the community where you will enroll. Our placement process is very personalized to the individual, and we pride ourselves on prioritizing a mutual relationship between district and student.
Pathways to Teaching is designed for transfer students. Before transferring, students must have completed either the AGEC-A with 60 transferable unitAs or have earned an Associate of Arts - Liberal Arts degree. Our team is available to support you in navigating the eligibility and transfer process.
Application Requirements
In addition to applying to the University of Arizona, students must also submit an additional application to the Pathways program, which includes:
- IVP Fingerprint Card
- Advising plan obtained from a College of Education academic advisor
- 2-3 recommendation forms/letters
